I have come to realise that my growing interest for tech has come sorely from watching shows on Netflix.

1. Vortex, French Drama

Just the other day I sat for eight hours straight on my couch & was hooked to the latest Netflix show Vortex, a french drama. It’s about how a French cop uses AI to solve crimes. The virtual reality glasses he wears recreate the entire crime scene. So when they do their fieldwork, their would-be drones fly around capturing it. I want this to be a spoiler-free post. So I’ll stop here. I was amazed by how technologically advanced Vortex’s headquarters were; the use of biometrics in these crime spy shows is remarkable honestly! It’s a must watch.

2. Love & Anarchy, Swedish Drama

The show is about how a young lady is employed to digitalise the oldest bookstore in Sweden. I adore how this show revealed to us the reactions and fallouts of the older generation having to switch to digital content.

This reminded me of the time I got my own phone. I was in class eight and I learned how to use Facebook with trial and error. However watching this show I was able to see how the older generation reacts to digitisation and the challenges they confront. For example I realised they that not everyone is open to change when they fear being rendered obsolete. A huge bonus is I love the chemistry between the actors, absolutely wild to say the least.

3. Biohackers, A German Drama

This German sci-fi thriller follows an ambitious young medical student seeking revenge on her mentor for the scientific sins of the past. The show again shows me how advanced technology is in developed countries right from the glow-in-the-dark mice, gene-modded weed, and payment microchips in your hand? That’s the surprisingly realistic science backdrop of Biohackers, but that’s where it stays! A must-watch.

4. Blacklist, An American Drama

Blacklist is my all-time favourite is an American show where the FBI’s most wanted criminal becomes their very own informant.

Absolutely brilliant cast, it truly shows us that we must think differently, and possibilities are endless to solve the crime. Blacklist exemplifies how modern technology functions and how cases could be connected and how show the so-called ‘bad people’ have their own ‘bad ways’ to do good in the world. I can’t say more, you’ll have to learn more by watching it.

5. 1899

1899 is a Netflix horror series set on a migrant ship, following passengers from various European countries as they encounter supernatural phenomena during their journey to America. It’s a blend of historical elements with horror, suspense, and psychological drama, making for a gripping and chilling viewing experience.

And an absolute bonus is watching the behind the scenes. of how they shoot the Vortex, it absolutely blow not only my mind, but even the actors expressed awe and marvel in how much technology has grown over the years.

What’s your favourite genre? If you like Sci-fi do recommend me some.
