Hello you

There comes a point in your life where you just want to take a stand and be in control of your own decisions. This post could just very well be that starting point in your journey. I’m so happy you are here.

You might now ask why, when, and how I should identify my core values. We would all have discovered our core principles by now if the solution were that simple. Here is how I started on this adventure. Before we get started we will meet my favourites characters from books, online trainers, podcasts that have inspired me to take this journey. So buckle up because here we go.

Enter Pandemic: Hello Sydney

Meet Sydney Cummings, a former division one athlete in the US. Sydney wanted to make to make fitness accessible to everyone regardless of their income, occupation, and space. So she and her husband Dustin started an online fitness channel on YouTube.

Sydney is a really amazing and motivational person. Her exercise videos come to a close with an energising cooldown speech in which she discusses the 5 pillars of fitness —sleep, hydration, mental health, and recuperation.

She made reference to the significance of having core principles in one of her speeches. The seed was sown at that time. I recognized that as something I wanted to do in my head, but procrastinate because I wanted it to be flawless.

Sydney is renowned for her optimistic outlook, tenacity, and vigour! She really is something. With Sydney, you can either kick off your day with a boom or end it on a gratifying note.

Hola Simon Sinek

Months passed till I finally took action. I recall finding Simon Sinek’s book “Discover your why” a few months later. It is a book that served as a practical starting point to my adventures. One recommendation was to share your highs and lows with a friend so they can provide you perspectives you weren’t aware you possessed.

I spoke with an old buddy who used to travel and told her about my experiences. The question centred on our learning as well as our family background, schooling, employment, and the highest and lowest points in our lives. I told someone about it, but nothing ever came of it.The journey was at a standstill.

Bonjour Laurie Santos

Laurie Santos

Then I listened to a podcast by Dr. Laurie Santos, who I like to refer to as my happiness pill. She created a course called the science of well-being after noticing the decline in the mental health of her Yale students. I too was in the same boat back during the pandemic. I decided to take care of my own mental health. I began by researching and learning more about emotions. Her podcast about the value of having core values was also available. I now know that there is a proverb that states that the more something is said, the more true it is.
