I have been following Vox, an American news website, since 2016-2017 when they had 400k followers. Over the past 7 years, they have grown to over 9.54 Million subscribers. Their aim is to cut through the noise and help you understand the stories behind driving headlines across the world. knew they’d grow bigger because their vision was phenomenal.

Vox doesn’t only have a YouTube channel, they have branched out to podcasts, a website and so on.
When everyone told Vox that the attention span of the viewers on YouTube is 30 seconds to a maximum of 2 minutes, they defied all odds and created engaging informative videos and resourceful content of over 16 minutes.

Guilty as charged, I couldn’t bat an eye. The use of interactive 3-D looking maps, graphics, and extensive voiceovers made it impossible to even blink, they held your attention. Their simple goal was ‘understand the news’, which if you think about it is extremely difficult.

Indian News Drama
As a journalist by graduation, I am still fairly intrigued by the profession. In college I learnt if you do read the papers, you’d quickly realize that the news houses are just reporting he said, she said narrative! There’s no in-depth coverage of the news. Just a lot of yelling, screaming, and no discipline or decorum of any sort is followed. They are all doing these TRPs (Television rating points) which are basically a tool used to judge which shows are the most-watched. In the meanwhile, I forget the issue being discussed at hand or why I’m sitting in front of the TV.
